I am going away for a 10 days holiday, and my mum will be coming over to stay and to look after the dog and water the plants.
Should i ask her to feed the discus once in every 3 days or so, or just leave the fish tank alone?

She won't be able to do water change or find out about water parameters.

If they are adults then leave them be.

I agree. If they are adults don't feed two days before you leave and a very large water change. All should be well when you return.

Also have her check for any dead fish and remove them immediately. If you have a sump have her maintain the water level in the sump.

I don't want to discourage question asking but..
There is many, many threads on this exact subject. Do some research and I think you'll find a lot of good info here.
