Just bought 1 gal of seachem matrix. Feel like spending a lot of money for some rocks. Hope all the info about how good a biofilter they are is right.

Lol that's what I felt like when I opened mine, should have seen the look on my face when I saw a bucket full of rocks.

I was actually trying to 'hide' them in fear of answering embarrassing question.

It is simple pumice. I just bought (Spain) one 25 liter sack for under 20€ including shipping of pumice soil for bonsais. It is actually the same stuff except that matrix is cleaned and in some way of an even size.

It actually works, some have reported it works very well. It just that I do not feel comfortable paying that amount of money for cleaned rocks.

Whether its a box of rocks from seachem or ceramic noodles from fluval or something more fancy like biohome they all work about the same. Matrix is generally cheaper than the rest afaik
