View Full Version : Rubbermaid tote = toxic plastic?

Hello discus people,

Maybe you can help...What do you think...

I'd like to separate half my African cichlids for a little bit, while I sell the other half on Kijiji....

Would putting them in a large Rubbermaid tote be a bad idea? Would the plastic be a problem?

Don't think so. Some reefers use them for fuges.

If it's food safe and not contaminated by previous use, it will be fine. (The gray Brutes are food safe)

I stored my fish in one for 4 days. Had to break my tank down to paint the wall behind it. I hooked my filter heater up and put my plants in it. Fish were all fine.

BUMP.

this was the exactly thing i wanted to post.. do you have update.??

i have some killifish i need to keep apart.. was thinking this was a good way to go for now.. until i get my racks sorted..

PLUS.. i need the lids!! i have already lost 3 killifish from jumping out! DOH

Skip, I use to use rubbermaid tote's in the past to age water with no ill effects what-so-ever.
