Hello everyone,

I am re-scaping my Display tank at the moment. I got a nice piece of drift wood that looks like a tree and I will scape the tank around it.

However it's floating

I tried several things but attaching it to a piece of sinking drift wood didn't work. I don't have any good looking rocks (even if I had I don't know how will I attache them properly)

What I came to in the end is that I am going to empty the tank dry it and silicone it to the base of the aquarium. What do you think everyone?

This is a pic of how it looks.

Here it was attached to a piece of glass, that worked to sink it, but i was difficult to fit it with that as the base of the tree had to be pushed to the end to give space for the "branches" however, the glass pane was preventing that.

What about using some suction cups on the bottom of the glass instead of going to all the work of emptying the tank?

How do you suggest that I do that? I imagine I will need a 2 sided suction cups to attach to the wood and tank glass bottom.

They also have to be strong because the floating pull is strong.

A solution that will not require emptying the tank for 2 days to dry the silicone will be greatly appreciated.

Boil some large rocks and hold it down until it becomes water logged then remove the rocks.

Boil some large rocks and hold it down until it becomes water logged then remove the rocks.

So if it is left submerged for some time it will eventually sink?

How much time does it usually take?

As soon as it gets waterlogged, it will no longer float. Some pieces take a few days, my large piece took 2 weeks.

It's faster if you boil it. Place it in Turkey or big pot and boil it for couple hours.

Thanks to everyone for the replys

I emptied the tank ans siliconed it to the bottom, It is pretty huge wont fit into any pot I have. I had to use the bath tub to pre-soak it.

And I didn't want to risk the rocks holding it down to fall and break the glass, or even spoil the look of it, besides the LFS told me it will stay floating for a very long time (his experience with this particular type.
