1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

My discus seems to be in pain after he tries to swallow food, he takes a bite then it looks like he is chocking and in pain. This has bee going on and off for several months, but seems to be getting worse and is no longer interested in food. I was wondering if he has something lodged in his throat.

2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

Looks healthy except for the eating problem, and doesn't seem interested in food at all in the last week or so. He also used to be the tank bully but stays to himself now for the most part. No one is picking on him.

3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

I treated him with PP several weeks ago in a quarantine tank. He seemed to perk up after the PP treatment for a few days but still had trouble swallowing.

I had one got a piece of beefheart stuck in its throat when it was a baby. Fortunately I could see the piece hanging out so I just pulled the fish out and pulled the food from its mouth.

I put him in quarantine again last night and got a good look into his mouth but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. He looks great and healthy but I wish I could figure out what is causing him to gag when he swallows. He is an albino, I wonder if this factors in some how.

I couldn't get a video, but the problem seems to over, I got him eating again and he has stopped gagging. I'm still not sure what was causing it but I'm real happy it has stopped.

Maybe he swallowed a rock?
