The eyes are clear and red, fins are all straight up, they bit oval but think cos they are still so small and could fill out nicely when they hit 4", are they in a 125 gallon or 180 gallon tank?

Ahhh sorry i read wrong u said when they are 4inc some day, for 3months thats decent, almost an inch a per month is good, they grow fast when small to adult size in their first year, ive read somewhere that they grow fast to adulr size in a year on a healthy diet.

Cant remember but i google searched it, Discus fish grow up to 5"-6" in their first year and till 2 years between 7" and 8" if u lucky to of kept them in perfect conditiona and fed them a great diet of 6 feeds a day when they were juvies u could reach 8". My 2 4" discus are 5 months old already lol and growing per week at a crazy rate. They alot like humans when it comes to growth, u grow fast as a baby to a kid to a adult then u stop growing and spend 40+ years the same size... same with discus, they grow fast out and stay a certain size for a couple years till they die except for them to grow u need 100% perfect water conditions and a great mixture in lots of food per day so that they dont get stunted.

Below the average growth of Stendker discus. This info came from Discus Hans.

2 - 2 1/2" = 3 months of age
3 - 3 1/2" = 4 1/2 months of age
4" = 6 months of age
5" = 9 months of age
6" = 18 months of age
7"+ = 2 year.

So according to the above info your fish should have grown around 1 inch. Some fish will grow faster and can reach the 6-7 inch as adult and some stay smaller and reach 5-6 inch. I also notised that the fish grow in stages. Sometimes they grow fast in a short period and sometimes they grow slower but defelop more colloration, paterns or the body shape is changing. At this size and assumed age only 1/4 to 1/2 inch isn't enough growth in a period of 2 months. It can be the food, the water but maybe the fish were already behind in growth.

You have been doing a great job. Keep it up. You call the thread "Turq (sic) baby." I just wanted to share a few thoughts as requested.....

Since you have no doubt been perusing this cite over the past month, I am guessing that you looked at other Turqs?

When I think of Turqs, I always think 9 bar like this one.... (I posted a pic just taken for this response with visible stress bars)(usually they are not this viable)

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/07/jyzy3y9y.jpg

I noticed in your grouping, you had some very nice 14 bar snakeskins. I do not usually think of SS as a Turq.

A ss looks like this guy. (Taken just now for this response.)(tried to get some stress bars for reference)

Also in your group you look to have some scorpions. Scorps will have more than 9 bars but less than 14 bars. But usually appear more solid in the body with SS face. The pattern varies significantly depending in the genetics if the parents. (Pics from Google below)

Your grouping appears to have some Turqs, SS and Scorps. This post was put together as encouragement. Your grouping is a healthy fun smattering of blue discus. They are a great start! I'll keep watching. I'm rooting for you and you fish!

Makes sense. Mom is a SS. Dad looks to be a Turq. I don't think you will get any Scorps.

In my experience SS grow at a slower rate than 9 bars. Many. People separate the two for an equal playing field. Do some searching in that issue on this site.
