A normal 15 amp circuit can take 1800 watts but it is recomended to go 80% of that which is about 1400 continuous watts. Can trip over 1600 watts. The heater + the pump + anything else on that circuit = watts. If they are on an extention cord the wire thickness of the cord can have an affect also. Some one using a blow dryer on the same circuit is usually the culprit.

Are you using FGCI circuit for the aquarium equipment? If so, I had an issue with my aquaticlife fixture and HomeDepot FGCI, went with lowes and everything started working. I was way underpowered, 600w on. 15amp circuit, it just wasn't happy with the light ballast.

I use a surge protector on mine that seems to make a difference. Not to mention all our outlets are crappy and won't hold cords. They fall out.

Yeah and most surges are cheaper these days. I got a set which had the surge and extension cord and one of those you plug into the outlet that creates more outlets for 10 dollars

Could be due to uneven power supply. Either a UPS or power conditioner may help. I use a UPS to help with power trips.
