Looking for some discus from local breeders. One is offering some and I wanted to get opinions if you think they look healthy. These are not mine, pictures of the parents are attached. The ad says they are Blue Cobalts.

They are good fish, be nice to know the age and size, and the price being asked. Can I asked what general vicinity you are from?

Yeah I guess that would help. lol

The seller has three different strains available, it think it's a lot easier to just include the ads since they all have the information. This is all from the Chicagoland area.

Just a note that these discus are sold by http://www.somefinsfishy.com/. I am not saying that is bad but personally do not know this website.

I would suggest looking at the fish being sold by the sponsors here where you would be less inclined to question the health of the fish.

Did a search for "somefinsfishy" and found this thread http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?109048-Electric-Blue-Rams&highlight=somefinsfishy. These guys sound questionable.

Yeah I did a little search on them too. They should change their name since I often confuse them for somethingsphishy, which I heard is a no go.

Josie is in Chicago: chicagodiscus.com. She's a sponsor here, highly recommended. Plus, you could check out her breeding facility. That would absolutely be my first stop if I lived in the Chicagoland area.

Those pictures look good, but I think they are not the 1" fry for sale. They look kind of small to be the parents too- Cobalts anyway.

The pictures look great but unless I see them for myself I can never tell if the pictures have much to do with the fish. Without disparaging this seller, various internet sellers are great at marketing and using pictures of fish they don't have.

This seller doesn't seem to be making wild claims and at $15 each this seems to be realistic. If you live in the area you may want to ask the seller if you can visit the hatchery.

I know the seller. The picture you see is of the pair and not the fry that is listed for sale.

I would have to agree with another post... CHICAGO DISCUS!!! All the way, I wouldn't even consider those fish. If Icould go right to Josie I would jump at the chance. half my fish are from her anyway and I am in NYC... Go to Chicago Discus now and get gorgeous healthy fish, period...
