View Full Version : 3 semi adults in a 40 as quarantine tank

Well as the title states what do u guys think? 40 breeder with 3 semi adults for at least 3 weeks. The tank will have 2 sponge filters and a hang over filter, no gravel BB of course. Just untill I know they won't cause any damage to the rest of my stock.
If that's not good then I may pick up 2 more just in case.

I don't see a problem with that. QT is just temporary so you should be fine. However, it seems you have a lot of filtration. You can easily just do the two sponge filters and be done with it, considering they are seeded sponge filters of course.

thanks! One is seeded and the other i will be purchasing today since my brother took my other seeded one for his oranda/ranchu set up. i will most likely run the hangover for a week at most.
hopefully no aggressive happens once i introduce the checkerboard pigeon to the white butterflys.

With frequent water changes, you could easily run one mature sponge filter.

Agreed, of course your goal with the second sponge might be to get the second sponge cycled.
