Not trying to sounds harsh but just some type of low quality pigeon blood. What kind is anyone's guess. They have poor shape. The better of the 2 looks to have issues with the edges of its fins. The peppered one has its fins tucked. If you want to have success you probably need to start changing water. Those types of issues are normally caused by poor water conditions.

cheers john. didn't think they were anything exceptional. just nice to look at :) I think the fin is only tucked as I took this picture the same day it was added to the tank. the fin is now fully out and in a nice circle shape. they seem very confident and happy swimming around the tank. im upping my water changes now to 40% 3 times a week. I sure can notice a difference in the fish just after a water change... they love it! :)
