Hi all,
is there any way to stop a pair from breeding??
I've got a pair in a heavily planted community tank with 8 other discus, rummy noses, cardinals and cory.
Everything was fine until 2 discus paired up.
Now the pair is continuously laying eggs. Once the wriggles are free swimming they disappear and the next batch is started.
Big problem: the pair is unbelievably aggressive towards the other discus, so much so they are confined to a corner of the tank and showing signs of stress bars.
Is there an answer other than taking the pair out? I don't really want to start another tank.
I've lowered the temp to 25 Celsius, didn't help.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Not really a solution without taking the pair out...but when you do another pair will probably just form anyway. How big is the tank?

This tank is 55 gal. I know it's probably too small, but there were no issues for 2 years.
I have another tank, 125 gal with 14 discus. 2 pairs are breeding in there, but there is no aggression at all.

10 discus in probably less than 50 gallons it significantly over stocked unless they are small/stunted. Either way you need to thin the herd out some.
