San Merah is a brown based non pigeon blood, your other fish is a pigeon blood. Unless the PB is a cross 100% of the offspring will be heavily peppered. Of course if you're willing to cull all the fry they still could learn to be good parents together before you find them new mates.

And the "map" is just a term that refers to the pattern?

Chances are the fry might be indeed contain some pepper. FWIW, if one were to do a non-pb to pb cross, using a barless non-pb is much preferable and will yield better results than say a barred fish. In that regards your a little better of than most. I stumbled across that information on an article written by Carol Roberts, and have found it to hold true so far in my experience. So, that being said, you might get some (key word) fry that are ok.

But, in that regards, those clean/semi clean offspring will most likely only resemble a solid pb that is orange, or orange pigeons that have partial patterning.

In the event the Map is het for the pb gene, the non pb offsping will range from basic browns to turq like looking fish, mot likely a bit on the dull side.
