Wow - Chicago Discus - Wow

I just had to jump on Josie's Summer Sale. No way the prices could be beat and the video of the discus looked amazing. I ordered two of the Mandarin Passion and two of the Super Checkerboard Pigeons. Josie and Miranda surpassed my expectations this time. I usually like to wait a few days to post pictures so the discus get settled and color back up. No waiting this time. Here they are after just 30 minutes in the tank.

12 hours in the tank now. Guess they like the water in the South...........you think? Might have to get a video of the Checkerboards in a bit.....the two males are trying to decide who the odd man out is.

Thanks, my wilds get the same food as my domestics. I don't do anything differently with wilds except the tanks aren't bare bottom. They have sand and manzanita. I feed my discus a variety. Freeze dried blackworms, tetra color bits, beefheart flakes from Inland Empire and more. Just started trying Forrest aqua bits.

How big is your discus? 4.5'' TO 5'' maybe?

The Mandarin Passion are about 5" and 5 1/2". Typical of a lot of reds they are on the smaller side as adults. The Super Checkerboard are about 6" and 6 1/2".

Larry those are some beautiful discus chicagodiscus choose for you. Hope both pair get lucky, my order from them will come in a few hour as wells, seeing yours I cannot wait for mine! Keep us updated with the spawning also!

Mandarin Passion pair is now proven. Never saw the male make any passes so I was holding my breath. Only about 20 of the eggs were fertile but no worries there, plenty of time for bigger spawns in the future. Just happy to have them confirmed.
