Sump media

Hi everyone I just added my second green killing machine to my sump. I have the normal pad and bio balls in one area and the tank heaters uv sterilizers and ceramic rings in the other. I need to clean the sump soon. It has been up and running for about 5 months now. Open for recommendations. I know ceramic rings aren't doing much just had them around and figured I'd toss them in. Tank stays crystal clear but just trying to make use of the area I have. The water used to stagnate in the second area so I added both of the uv sterilizers. here's an update of my tank. The plants are growing pretty good!

Thank you for the reply! I like the larger ultra stones they seem very pourus and should help hold good bacteria. Which do you use or would recommend for my 30g sump?

I use Biohome Ultimate Media with the Trace Minerals and the Biohome Ultra and red Lava Rock in my sumps thay are all very pourus.and do a good job holding bacterta. you can order from Greatwaveeg.com thay can help you find out how much media you will need. I like the one with the Trace Minerals I think it helps with the Discus Heath.

Thanks I appreciate it. That will be next on my to do list for my fish! I was going to get another light fixture but it seems to be growing my low light plants just fine.

Just use some Osmocote+ root tabs and your plants well be fine, what size is your tank and if you really would to see your plants grow you could do a dirt some day.

It's only 100 gallons. Thanks for the tip. I'll try those tabs next week and order the new media as well. I like the sand because my eel can bury himself but usually he just hides under the plants. My plants are getting tall! Today when I looked at them one is nearing the top! Thanks again for the info!
