I am setting up a new tank. I was told I can use rocks sold at Home Depot to decorate my tank?

I have used the small round river rocks from Home Depot. The rocks are used to give the sand bottom (PFS) a little character.

HD also has small pea gravel that might suit your needs as a substrate; just give it a real good rinse.

What would you use to clean these rocks before adding them to the tank? Soap n water? Or soak them in prime ?

I have read the vinegar test for rock....pour on the rock, if it fizzes, it is not good for the tank, as it will alter the PH. Be sure to rinse scrub off rock, soak in a De-Chlorinated container. Use the SD search engine, and also Google it :-) Be careful not all rocks are good for tanks.

Clean them with water. No soap or anything else, just water.

I did as we discussed w the rocks. I rinsed them really good (no soap) the fish have been transferred successfully into the new tank and are swimming fine and adapting. My only issue is that the water doesn't seem crystal clear. It's a little bit cloudy... Any suggestion on what I should do?

Won't it clear up in a couple of days, on its own?

New substrate = new crusher fines that are smaller than your filter media. Patience and water changes.
