Valentine male x Blue Turq female anyone have a guess

So this was not a intentional cross but I keep all my Discus when not in spawning prs together and these two found each other Lol. Guess the spawn will be a pot luck of colors, anyone else have a guess?

Without knowing the genetics behind the Valentine, it's really hard to say. Most people that respond are going to assume the Valentine is a PB, in which case if it is, then the fry will not be very nice.

However, that being said, I am not convinced the valentine is a pb, or at worse, is only het for the pigeon blood gene.

I have fry from the same male and 4 different females if this helps.

Tropical Red mostly solid red fry Some with yellow faces and some white white a few brown turqs also
Rose Red mostly brown based red fry along with a couple browns and red turqs
Virgin Red mostly brown based red with a couple turqs
Albino Red/white all red white fry

No pb fry from these two cross's? If so that confirms my belief looking at the fish (dam I am good! LOL).

None from the Rose. There was another color type from the virgin cross, but they were weekish and didn't make it past the .5 size. They just slowly dwindled :(

I find it odd that of the two cross's I quoted, no white based offspring. Perhaps the parents ate the white fry early in development?

The male appears to be a cross between a Snow white and a brown based red (virgin red, rec cover, san marah----pick one). Most snow whites are at least het for the pigeon blood gene, so when you do such a cross you will get some traditional red/whites (bottom of fish is red, top is white) these are the fish that picked up the pb gene. The others will be kind of a white/red blotchy/speckled pattern such as your male. Here is a picture of the two phenotypes of mine from such a cross:

Interestingly enough, for some reason, the fish that inherit the pb gene are almost always female, while the blotchy/speckled fish are male.

Now, if I have the genetics of your male correct, then the pairing with the turq will produce roughly the same as the other two cross's here:

Rose Red mostly brown based red fry along with a couple browns and red turqs
Virgin Red mostly brown based red with a couple turqs

with the exception I would expect to see more turqs.

I would also expect some red/whites and blue/whites, but, not sure based on your past results.....

Just the tropical red and the red/white were the only two to produce red/white colored offspring.
