Hello,
on my carbon filter for osmosis it says it must be changed in 3 to 6 months. Is that meant for the 24h /7 days a week/3-6 months usage? If so it would mean it can last for 90-180 days of 24h/day usage. I only use it once a week for 4-6 hours, so it should last me far longer i presume?

Within reason I usually change mine on estimated throughput - most have a typical volume of water they will "filter" I usually aim for around 80-85% of that and then change, not as though they are mega expensive :)

I just monitor my output for chlorine, when I see a trace I replace. I tend to get more than most use out of my carbons, that I attribute to my relatively low chlorine levels. On the other hand my sediments need changing quite often......

According to my tap provider, residual chlorine in my tap water varies between 0,05 and 0,3 mg/l. Is this high or low concentration?

1 mg/l = 1ppm
4mg/l is the maximum allowable

for my Coralife prefilter it states every 6 months or 3,000 gallons. I assume the gallons trump the period of time but regular monitoring is a good idea also.
