I have been looking for a well bred miniature dachshund for several months and finally lucked into one. I hope she grows up to blood trail as well as my others. Here is a pic.....I think my old dogs have gotten use to her...LOL While she is basically just red she does have one blue eye and a small white patch on her chest.

My brindle dog has decided that she belongs to him. He fell asleep with his head up.

When I took his pic he looked at me like back off jack she's mine....

Thanks folks. The brindle dog will trail a wounded deer a long way. He has found quite a few deer for people.

Adorable. So discus or dogs, you like your animals well-bred :)

Discus, or hunting, John - you do them both right ! Love the dogs.

My grandfather bred & raised setters & pointers - all he did from fall to spring was hunt, mainly wild birds & ducks of course, but deer, moose & elk too - In the summer he simply hung out at the racetrack & played the ponies !
Don't know how he got away with it.

Thanks Guys. I have always owned high quality animals. My wife will often question my sanity when I haul a horse 10 hours to get them bred when it means I literally drive past 100+ stud horse to get there.....LOL...

What kind of big dogs? I have had dachshunds since I was 4. From the 80's to sometime after 2000 I also raised catahoulas and pits. Never had any troubles between the big dogs and the little dogs.

I have a 120lb East Texas Hog Dog and a 7 month old German shepherd that will be over 100lbs.

A couple years ago I dated a guy who had two dachshunds, and when we broke up I went and bought myself one.
Unfortunately, I had to rehome him because he kept getting injured by the big dogs on accident. For example we had this neighbor with a dachshund in their yard that would bark a lot at the fence; so when my dogs went out, and he was barking at them they would run the fence and bark back, when they ran the fence the dachshund would get trampled. I would stop them from barking pretty quickly, but there was always this initial burst of energy before I could get all three of them to settle down. They really hated that dog on the other side of the fence; hell I did too, all it ever did was bark all day, and I worked from home at the time; it was torture.

Wow guys beautiful dogs !! love the new baby John, in my experience this breed are excellent hunters, i only get clients come to me with training programs when they do not realize, or provide outlets for this hunting drive, its like they treat them as lap dogs or something :p such fiesty and great fun, dogs. I love them.

We have everything from 150lb Rottweiler, i love my Rottys, Pitties, Shepherds, mastiffs etc and then we go down in size to 4lb chihuahua, its a harmonious home but we give everybody a job lol :)

Nice looking dogs. A couple of friends of mine tried to figure out how many hogs approximately that we had caught through the years. A conservative estimate was reached at about 10,000. All of them caught alive and tied up. The trouble with big dogs like yours is that the hogs are pretty rough on them. The best catch dog I ever had was a small female pit that weighed about 45 pounds. I miss catching hogs but I just got where I did not have the time to justify keeping 10 to 20 grown dogs.

Here is a pic of my baby killing crazed pit. Her name was drive by. She lived to be 12 and caught literally thousands of wild hogs in her life.

Thanks!

I totally agree with you about my dog, I would never hunt him, as I believe like you that he would be cumbersome, and I wouldn't risk losing him to a hog.

Nice to hear somebody is trying to keep the hog population in check though, it's such a huge problem , and it's only getting worse.

The guy I got my dog from also uses these dogs for weight pulling.
