New Pairs from Chicago Discus

Hi Discus Friends!!! just wanted to drop by and share a few photos of my most recent pairs... First I would like to give Josie and Miranda a big Thank you!!! Every order i've placed from CD has been top quality, from the packaging, costumer service to the fish, i could not be any happier with them, and for that i am thankful...

Lets start from the begging. back in May when CD had the Memorial Day Sale i was lucky enough to get a "possible" pair of Snakeskin Blue, here's a quick video of them:

time when by and unfortunately "my fault" lost the Female.... the male was later introduce into a tank with some Asian where he mated with a red melon female, that spawn made it to wigglers, which help me confirm that he is fertile in my liquid rock water, CNY.... so it was time to get him a more suitable female.

this what i decided to go with,from the October shipment.

So my order came in oct 23, everything as expected, perfect...

Oct 26 the leopards had they're first spawn!!!! Unfortunately they both did, so at this point we have two females, and the ring leopards has been introduce with the SS male...the two GL females got move into the Asian tank.. Within a week they both had chosen a male so i decide to move them into a breeding tanks

we have wigglers in all 3 tank!!!

ill upload a few video soon, the SS leopards are starting to attach atm,

the GL X GM moved the frys to the sponge filter, i'm bit worry about that as the filter is dark grey

yes very very very cool to see them so happy, so quickly. A testament to the care taken from breeder, to Josie to you Quattrok, I can see how clean and nicely you keep everything, hope to learn a lot from you as i get ready to breed myself

BEAUTIFUL Blue SS x ring leopard there, exactly the pair i have myself who just started spawning :p so this is awesome to watch :)

Also a big thanks to SimplyForums in general, there's a lot of useful information in this forums, i know i don't post very often, but I'm always lurking around, my success in breeding Discus is partly because of this forum, with time i realized the search bar is my best friend... So Thank you SimplyDiscus!!!!

Ok so just wanted to drop by and give ya'll a little update on the pairs. Videos coming soon, I'm trying but as you can imagine I've been very busy with all the new babies...

SS X leopards are doing the best, i can see them growing by the day...

Golden leopard X Golden melon are tending their frys and the frys from the other golden female and Pigeon.
i don't know what happen but when i went to take the cone guard off, they got really defensive, next thing you know, they're going to town on wigglers, that was 2 days ago, i reacted fast and used my turkey baster to take them out, which i then moved in with the other pair, and they took them as their own without a problem, so i got lucky on that part.

ill try to keep up with update on the babies, and ill record the progress as they grow.

on another note, sorry not related to this but Im super excited about them...last week i came a cross a great deal, and had to jump on it!!!! a local store brought in some wilds from a distributor up here in the east, I'm sure a few of you have heard of them, they go by FISH FISH FISH Inc and they're out NJ, anyways long story short, my local store calls me and tells me about them, of course they want some ridiculous amount $ for the wilds, but lucky enough for me they were interested in trading for some of my Checkerboard Pearl X Cobalt juvies that i been growing out, btw the female i bought from you as well Josie, back in may with the SS, ill post a new thread on them asap...

So i end up trading 8 of my juives at 2" - 2.5" for 2 wilds, on the way home all i could think of is what am i getting my self into, like i need two more fish to worry about, anyways got them home drop them in a 20g with 50% tap 50% RO and nuke them with clout, recommended dosage is 1 pill per 10 gallon and i hit them with 3, that hopefully took care of any external hitch hikers, next day i fed them live black worms that i soak with Metro... kept them in there for another 4 days, they been eating and pooping fine so today i went ahead and put them in their new home, a 5FT acrylic that holds 110 gallons, hopefully i didn't move them too soon, so far is just them two in there, if everything goes well in the next few month I'm going to talk to my LFS and see if we can bring in a few more from the same distributor, who ever that is.... Anyways any tips, recommendations on the wilds would be greatly appreciated, TIA

Alfredo sounds like your going to have some nice crosses coming in your near future :)...I've had some wilds in the past but maybe Pat or Mr. bug can give you some better advise on them. You probably already know this but watch for cross contamination with the wilds and the domestics. I'm sure one of those guys will chime in and give you some good info on how to care for them.........Josie

well let's start with the Golden Leopard and Golden Melon Pair.... This Happen today, is very common with young Pairs, so I'm not that bump about it, only a few frys left,the next few spawns should be better until they finally get it down...

Also before i log out... i got the Super Red Whites out of quarantine today, they were purchased by my friend Thiel who split the shipping cost with me. They're from the October order as well. the fish came in looking great but did not settle in well in his planted tank. He was having problems regulating the co2 in his tank, and this guys didn't like it. When i got to his house he had a dead one in his hand already... I offer to help and bring an extra tank from my house to keep his fish, until the situation could be fix. He's had discus in the past and never any luck, so i felt bad.. I told him its possible to keep the discus in a plated tank as long as it's well balanced. after this incident i think he didn't want to give them another try, so he end up offering me the discus which i obviously took, anyways here they are 3 weeks later.... Good Night Everyone!!!

Quick update!!! This are the Super Red Whites and their first spawn. Video was taken yesterday fry's are stayin on the cone, so far everything looks promising!!!
