I have a quick question, I made my first "Beef hart mix" the other day and also made a post in this category, Its not showing maybe due to low post count. Anyway I mistakenly took "Beef Hart foundation approved" lean beef instead of actual beef hart, I only realized this after everything was mixed and packaged. Can I still use this mix even tho it contains no beef hart and only "lean beef" ? or does the beef do something to the discus? I have tried it with them and they went mental for the food as did my flower horn(he will eat anything anyway). So my question is not if the fish will eat it but is it safe for the fish to eat?

As you can see "Beef Diced Hart Smart" label

P.s
I did try and google for an answer, but I must be the only idiot to make this mistake, as google only returned "BEEF HART" results...

Feeding beef mix has been done before not myself but by others and it was cooked with fat drained off.
Here is a link from a recent thread you may want to read through....http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showthread.php?117619-Ground-Beef-90-Lean

Thanks for the link, I followed it to the last post which gave a link to Discus Hans Beef mix, so if hans is using it then it can't be all that bad. Thanks for the info. I might have to remove and re add the original post with pictures of my first "Beef Mix"

I think your lean beef mix is fine - I occasionaly use a lean london broil (top round) instead of beef heart.

Both are just muscle. The heart it's just leaner and cheaper.
