I just received this pair from Miranda and Josie. Fantastic packing job, the fish have arrived without any shipping injury. They are alert, calm and swimming in there temporary quarantine tank. Miranda and Josie went above and beyond sending me an entire sponge filter set up. I only asked for a cycled sponge if possible. They also sent me a beautiful breeding cone as a surprise. Thank you Josie and Miranda. Will update with pics in the future.

This pairs eggs have progressed to wigglers today. The TDS was high at 275 and still they hatched approx 50%. Looking forward to working with this pair from Miranda and Josie. Thanks for the great service and awesome fish.

I recently purchased some discus from CD and must say that I am very impressed with my new discus. Calicos(Large too) and two Jumbo BDs. Seems this dealer has it together. Even had their logo/Chi town discus label on the outside of the box. Will buy from them again without a hesitation. Ed

I have a question about what to do with this pair and small batch of fry that went free swimming on 3-20-15. Hopefully it is OK to ask here or it can be moved to the breeding section. The pair spawned again 2 days ago, looks like only about half fertile but they are disappearing. There are maybe 20 fry. The male seems to be getting irritated and I feel he may start eating the fry to spawn again. Should I pull the male and leave the fry with the female until they can be on there own. They are in a small temporary tank that I can raise a small batch of fry. The male would be alone in a 40 gallon I plan on having the pair in.

I left the male in last night. Today they are calm and fry on both parents. wew

Well there is no stopping this pair. The female started cleaning the cone so i pulled that. They still had some courting behavior and I did not want them to spawn yet so I pulled the male. The female spawned all by her lonesome (and fry). Soon the fry should be able to be on there own and I will see if I can get a larger hatch. The male is awaiting her in a new tank just staring at the cone. Josie and Miranda deliver what they say. A proven pair.

Fry are on there own. Parents are reunited in there breeding tank. Probably won't be long before another spawn. Have TDS down to 95.

Just an update on this pair. There were some ups and downs with them in the 40 gallon tank. Adjustments to the new environment, quite a few spawns that were eaten. The male went through some aggression against the female. But as of yesterday a huge group of attached fry. This group of fry is very strong and active and the parents are doing great with them. Time to fire up the brine shrimp hatchery!

It sometimes takes a while for new parents to get it right. But once they figure it all out, they will give you many happy fry, and many hours of pleasure caring for all the babies. Congrats... Miranda

This group is doing fantastic. I want to thank Miranda and Josie for a great pair of fish. There are over a hundred fry. They are about 3 weeks free swimming and about a quarter in size. Very uniform bunch in size. I see a sale in the future in about a month. I will start a thread when the time comes. Thanks again for a great pair.
