Problem

1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

Flachen (4 inch) has refused food for approximately ten days and appears timid. Additionally, his feces are white, but not stringy.
He was a fairly aggressive eater almost the day before he began to refuse food. He was added to an established aquarium 1 month ago.
I feed beef heart, cobalt discus pellets, and (frozen blood worms twice a week).

2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

Fish appears fine. No noticeable external issues.

3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.
No meds or treatments have been attempted.

Tank/Water

4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish.
180 gallon, 13 Discus, sizes range from 3 to 4 inches and 5 small Plecos.

5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often).
Daily water changes of 80 gallons

6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it?
Tank has been up and running for 2 months. Thin substrate of sand.

7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.
Water is aged for 24 hours with addition of Prime, it is aerated.
No PH swing

8. Parameters and water source;

temp - 85°F
ph - 7.5
ammonia - 0
nitrite reading - 0
nitrate reading - 5
Testing done with Seachem MultiTest Kits

What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.
Municipal water

9. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently.
No recent additions (Flachen was added to established tank along with a Checkerboard and a Pigeon Red).

10. Include any pictures or videos you have which shows the symptoms. If you can't add them to this post, please provide a link to them.

So this is what I did today. I placed the Discus in a 20 gallon quarantine tank that was prepared with water from the main aquarium. I keep a spare Eheim Pro 3 2071 External Canister Filter connected to the main aquarium so that I can easily connect it to the quarantine tank with minimal fuss, plus this also provides me with a filter that has been colonized with nitrifying bacteria. I raised the temperature to 90°F and added Epsom Salt (2 Tablespoonful per 10 Gallon). The tank has several pieces of driftwood in it to provide him with plenty of hiding spaces to feel comfortable. I covered the tank on three sides and when feeding I will leave the food in the tank for him. Hopefully this will work. If not, onto plan B...
