After a few months of daily water changes, the discus have been improving dramatically. Strange how they respond to WC's unlike other cichlids. The runt swimming around was a juvie with most other tankmates. He has decided to stay small and somewhat ugly. He's a tough lil' SOB though. I am still trying to rehome the jurupari. I am feeding Al's FDBW, Cobalt discus flakes, homemade beefheart, and tetra colorbits. I do have some BBA growing and am trying to improve my circulation and O2 levels. Anyway, here's my vid. I am still learning, as I am somewhat new to these guys....about a year now. BTW, I also would like to improve my stock with quality fish and possibly rehome some of the more unsightly discus.

Tank is looking great! Is this your only tank right now? I am asking because if you really want to upgrade your stock a 55g as a grow out tank is cheap. Petsmart or Petco almost always has a dollar a gallon sale going on. Buying good quality and small 3" fish are very affordable. All you need is a heater, seeded sponge filter. Also a separate siphon and bucket for cleaning the tank. Leave the bottom bare for easy cleaning and give the babies plenty of time to grow up. Then if you want to switch out the old with the new you have a tank to keep the older ones in until you re home them :)

Thanks for the update!

What are the dimensions of that tank? Looks great.

If it's like mine it should be 48" long x 30" tall x 18" wide

Luv your tank! Very nice and clean looking. Just one question, how do you all keep the sand so clean all the time and what type of sand are you using? I have an 55G bare bottom now and maybe what to change to sand in the future. Thanks for any info...
