I have used moonlights on almost all my discus tanks. However, I do have a few hours, typically from like 2am to 8am of total black out.

Hi Hai, I only leave the moon lights on if there is a pair on eggs or fry.

my discus love the moonlights, in fact I shortened my daylight hours just so there were more hours of moonlight bc the fish are so active. but it does go completely dark from 10pm to 6am

I have blue light led strip on one side of my 55 gallon tank and white led strip on other side. Its a cool effect having blue light on one side and white light on other. I turn the white light off when I turn in and leave the blue one on all night. My tank is in my bedroom and the low light serves as a night light for me. As I watch my discus before I go to sleep, I can barely make out their shapes as they float around the tank.

moonlights will do nothing for your plants.
