I've tried that before but it usually only knocks me out for 2-3 hours. You must work the graveyard shift?

Hope you got some sleep Chris. Sometimes a glass of wine will help take the edge off and allow the mind to relax for sleep.

I use to have that issue when I was young. I finally cured mine by getting on a set schedule. For years I would go to bed at 10:00 and get up at 5:30. It cured my problem. I can now venture out of this restriction for a few days without issue but is I push it too far I get all kinds of out of whack.

Good luck. I know it sucks.

Your absolutely right John. I need to get myself on a set sleeping schedule. I'm going to try melatonin

LOL! Thank you Rick and Pat for your help but I don't drink alcohol. I am however going to try melatonin:)

My wife uses melatonin and it works great for her. I've had it a few times and itll definitely make you tired. If you have a serious problem you could get ambian but it is addicting and terrible to get back on a normal schedule

Good bottle of ale with lots of Hops will also do the trick. You can also skip the ale, stop at a homebrew shop, and buy the hops alone.. steep it some in any non-caffiene herbal tea and its off to LALA Land.

Grrr! Right now I'm on your wife's side. Lol! Only kidding. My sister is the same way, as soon as her head touches her pillow she's out like a light.

Hmm, I wonder if you have a high tolerance to the doxylamine succinate in NyQuil. I'm knocked out at least 4 hours (when disturbed) with it, but can go as long as 10-12 hours left alone.

Sadly, last time I was actually employed specifically for graveyard shift was 14 years ago. My sleep issues now are mostly due to bad habits. Good internet speed = so easy to just turn on the work laptop and put in extra hours of work every night, or spend hours reading / researching about hobbies / interests.

My wife is exactly like this! In the past, I have literally just gotten a response from her in bed and I turn to her and she is snoring! I wish I could be like that. The last 2 days I have tossed and turned after I turned off the tv and it took me over 2.5hrs to go to sleep.

Funny enough, the reason I turned off the tv was because I was falling asleep.
