I'm new to this "discus thing." As you may have read in other posts, my goal is to set up a planted Amazonian basin tank first (120 Gal), with custom lights from BML (already ordered), Fluval X6 and/or Eheim Pro 3 1200 (peat, no carbon) and using Vulconite Amazon substrate. I will be using my well water, 1/2 and 1/2 with RODI (water params will be adjusted as necessary during the planing phase). Once the tank is established with a shoal of Cardinal tetras and cory cats, do I still quarantine my initial set of "wild" discus? I know this may be a dumb question, but I have to ask.

Sounds like you already have the discus? And the cories and cardinals are new?

Just the opposite -- the set-up is not even built. I'm in the planning stages. I'm a previous SW reefer of 20 years. I don't rush into aquarium eco-systems quickly or lightly. :-)

Ok, you will want to QT both sets of fish.

Yes

You'll have to excuse Pat, her sense of humor awareness is a little slow sometimes.
