Quikcrete Playsand vs their Regular Sand

Can anyone tell me the difference? I live in Montana and pool sand is somewhat scarce. The playsand looked ok in its plastic bag, however their commercial sand is in a thick paper bag. I'd be using the sand as a cap and in areas that I don't want plants to grow. The price is the same at Ace Hardware (~$5.00 a 50# bag).

I use their regular sand in both my african tanks, it's a very light beige in color and the fish sift it just fine with no issues, I've had it in both tanks going on 4 or so years, hth.

the play sand is usually just finer than pool filter sand. It's fine to use, you just need to rinse it really well to get rid of any dust or silt. Also do not use too thick of a layer, as it is so fine it can compact and create anarobic areas.
