Had a pair of brilliant turquoise, which I have bred and they are fantastic parents.

Fry are free swimming 5 days now and introduced them to BBS yesterday. They is some interest in the new food source, but are happily eating off their parents.

Cheers Pat,

This is their second batch, first was a total loss. I just wanted to confirm the pair and got wigglers, but when it came to free swimming stage there was far too much dark material in the tank...sponge filter, tetra heater and the lighting wasn't correct. The fry failed to attach and their parents couldn't gather them.

I was prepared for this batch and "whited out" the tank and modified the lighting, worked a peach. Now comes the hard bit...this will be my first attempt at growing out. I'll keep posting back with updates, but any advise is always gratefully received.

Congrats Papa Jim.
Brilliants are one of my favorites and I'm sure as Pat mentioned above, you should not have a problem with those suggestions. Are you going to feed a b/h mix once you lean them off bbs.
Keep us updated

Thanks guys,

I'm feeding 3 moderate size portions of BBS morning, afternoon and evening. Just to get them interested. Seems to be working as their bellies have that orange tinge. WC 25% 1 hr after each feed with 75% in the evening.

I'm feeding the parents Gamma Blisters 'discus diet' 1 cube 2 x per day and Blood worms 2 x per day (so 4 feedings). They do not like any dried foods, which is a shame.

Gonna move the fry onto dry crushed pellets and BBS in a couple of weeks and then BHM after that...so a nice varied diet...if all goes well that is!

Fingers crossed!

There are quite a few, too many to count...well if they stayed still long enough I probably could.
