View Full Version : 6days old orange eggs still not hatch or turn white.
I have a pair laid first battch of eggs after moved 1 month old fry. I used some MB but some how only 1 hatched 20% turned white, then rest still orange not hatched. My other pair within system hatch fine. Let see next spawn but just curious anyone experience it.
Thanks
Tony

Tony usually it means the egg shell is hardened cant hatch, same water on the other breeding pair
Same water on other pair.

What the water flow like? If it's too fast the male might not be able to fertilize them... just a thought..
I have k1 media not much flow and don't think that causes in this case because eggs will turn white .
Al maybe right. Let's see next batch

Perhaps the tank you are having problems with has bacteria that is effecting the eggs, not strong enough to brake through shell, wipe it clean and clean the k1 bottle

The eggs probably not fertilized and the water flow is very strong

I have this happen sometimes even using clean 100 percent R/O water, eggs look orange and not hatching. The problem is the male, just being lazy sometimes.
You may want to keep a track record on each pair, as each pair are different.

Awesome, good to know guys and happened sometimes. Thank you everyone.

Stick some Post It on the tanks.

I'd say unfertilized and with MB and how clean your tanks look, no bacteria to eat the eggs (turn them white). I bet eventual they'll turn white, but the fish will probably eat them after to many days. I've had a few orange eggs remain for a couple days after wigglers have been moved, but eventual the fish eat them.
+1 on the post-it on tank, easy way to keep track of whats happened.
Cheers,
Dennis

my city water is very hard, I was breeding in RO but after that (don't ask me why I did this) I was doing daily water changes with treated, aged city water, my hatch ratio was embarrassing! My last spawn was to quick since there last, so there were few eggs BUT!!!.... Almost all the eggs have eye balls now!... I used pure RO for my water changes (after the spawn), made a huge difference!
