Finally got around to clearing out most of my other tanks and setup. I am monitoring this tank once again. I must say, these are what is keeping me interested in discus these days.

Their coloring is always changing but these three are in a 75 gallon of RO water.

Thanks Pat. Had these for about 18 months now. Lost a few a year ago when going through the whirling issue.

Since I have been keeping my wilds at a fairly low TDS I have not the whirling issue. The one exception was with the Cuipeua I got in February. They were flashing, rubbing and one started to dart and whirl. I consulted with Al and he suggested a round of Formalin which nipped it in the butt.

What are you hoping to do with the heckels Van, getting more?

To be honest. Not sure. I did see some pairing behavior when I had them with the Heckel crosses last year. I've been debating on putting the crosses back in the tank but I would need to slowly raise the pH first. I know two of these three get really territorial when I add anything but wild in this tank.

I was using almond leaves in the tank since I got them until I ran out this year. I've been using the tea and peat since you introduce the tea to me. I think my whirling problem happened every after 75+ percent water changes. I can't say if that is the exact cause. I think they died from hitting the tank more than anything. I also found that they don't like to be on the lower tank either.

I am monitoring the tank now and it's between 4.2 and 4.5 pH. The EC, I am still trying to get it down a bit more. It's between 80-100. I am thinking of doing what John mentioned in the past. For the summer, I may just hook up the RO output to the tank and let it drip about 30 GPD.

Mine likes FDBW and Sera pellets. See you are local. What do you have?

Here they are after a few months of lower pH. I introduced a male heckel crossed to the tank and he is getting bullied around a bit.
