I remember someone starting a thread about they use their computer to monitor their discus tank. I can't remember where I saw this thread so if someone can help me please do. It's not for me, it's for a friend.

Thank you

Chicago Discus has live feed on website ( https://chicagodiscus.com/ ). It does not seem to be online now though.

well what he is looking for is a controller. Apex makes one of the best in the industry. Have your friend check them out. You can see all tank parameters with your cell phone and make adjustments accordingly.

Go for the full Apex. I started with the Apex Jr and soon realized it had a limit to the number of modules it will support at one time so ended up buying the full version.

Len, sorry to go OT, but you were the one with a cool looking reactor as well right? Can you bump that thread so we can see the progres on that? Wouldn't mind seeing the full Apex setup view either ;-)

It's still in the box. I still waiting to rebuild the fishroom and life just keeps getting in the way lol

darn. Well make sure to update your thread.

OP, that Apex unit seems to be a sweet setup. There are other cheaper options as well. Check out marinedepot.com for some:

Yes a controller can do this. I use the full Apex for my SW tank and can do the same thing. Gives me the ability to turn on or off multiple pieces of equipment, as well as monitor pH and Temp. You can do a lot more as well, I'm just scratching the surface. I agree, don't get the Jr get the full package. Here are a couple of screenshots from my phone showing you the interface. I can see graphs, numbers, record measurements set pumps, etc all from the phone. Can do the same from the home computer. I'm not going to lie I fought the thing trying to set it up but once I got it setup and hooked into wifi I haven't had any issues since. You can also set programs, like my Kalk drip. I can set a program to kick on if the pH drops below X.XX number value and turn off if it hits whatever. So flexible with this, its really nice and very versatile.

This place with the fish graphic can be a webcam or photo of your tank.

It's definitely worth my money for the saltwater tank. If you have a nice show tank you want to hook it up to I can see the benefits for a FW as well. It's nice because its a modular system, don't buy what you don't need. You buy the base unit then can add any additional modules after that if you need more than 8 plugs, or want to control vortech pumps, etc.

Apex is the clear leader in this area. I use the older aqua controller and it can do a lot of what you are describing. The newer ones has much better interface and support.

There are many apps and cameras available to do this. I know of folks wanting to keep tabs on their home while they're on vacation that have used these technologies successfully.
