View Full Version : Planted Discus setup from Pakistan

Hello guys here is my planted discus setup after a layback of 2 years I have essembled a show tank. its 2 months old and fish is almost 1 month old I have 4 pairs of 2" and 3 pairs of 3.5" to 4" added soem anubiad and lotus and other palnts with driftwood. I am feeding them hikari discus bio gold and Todays dried bloodworms and juist bought Tetra bits for discus formula to feed them. They are feeding healty. I do water changes weekly 25% have ehim filter 300 lph and 1 external canister filter also gettign another external canister filter for them . I need advice how to grow them bigger and have a healty planted aquarium with healthy discus. Lighting is Philips Aquarelle and Nec rod total 120 Watts and aquarium dimension is 5' x 1' x 2' height total of 75 gallons or 300 l.

Guys I need experts advice and honest opinions and am open to criticism for betterment.

To grow your Discus
1. Too many WC (I do 2X a week 100%) the more the better
2. Planted tank is not preferable but it can be done
3. Good food

i'm doing grow in 140 planted.

i wish i did it in bare bottom. if you have room, setup bare bottom. these things eat as much as i feed them and that = foul water

otherwise, feed a lot of good food and keep water fresh

they do not like nitrates over 20 ime

for such huge amount of water change how do i prepare the water. i use ro water 1 part and mix with 3 part tap water and replace with aquarium water

How hard is your water? my water is hard but I don't use RO and I don't age the water.
use RO water only if you want to bread on a smaller tank. but display tank, take directly from the tab

others might have different opinions but this works for me

yep need much larger and more water changes for sure but If you have joined in 2010 Thinking this had been covered:)
