Hi,

I have two tanks which I will not be using for a while. How would it best to store these for future use? Should I leave them empty? Or should I keep them full of water? And if full of water, should I also run an airpump?

thanks

You can leave them empty. I've stored tanks in my garage without issue here in the great white north. I know ppl that store them outside during the winter without issue also.

yes but when it is time to use again I recommend to fill them up and sit for a few weeks to make sure they still hold water. Speaking from experience here. One of my tanks had been used for 15yrs no problem it sat for 10yrs then two week after refilled it come loose and had to be resealed. the leak was at the the bottom pane

Aquarium silicone can deteriorate quite quickly when a tank is left dry, especially when exposed to UV radiation or temperature fluctuations causing the silicone seals to expand and contract, which will compromise the integrity of the seal.
