Just received a new discus Saturday it seems to be sluggish now, not swimming much, and staying in one place.
When I brought it home it was active and very active at the pet store. Help what can I do to help this little
fellow out. It has been in a 5 gallon quarantine tank and I have done a 1/3 water change at least twice.
It is about 2.5 inches. iI was in a 10 gallon tank with other fish
Has not eaten anything in the last 24hrs help Please

Well I guess if I took you out of your queen size bed and stuck you in a twin, Bet you wouldn't move much either.

I'd change more water but that is just MHO

Well just so you know it was the only fish in there so I assumed it would be fine in the smaller tank for a short period
of time don't believe that is the problem. And I have done water changes again it is only about 2.5 inches if that.

I do have an air stone running in there but thought it may need a stronger
air movement/circulation.

Could you please test for ammonia and nitrite. I assuming you do not have a filter in the tank and will need to do a 100% WC to bring ammonia and nitrite to safe levels.

Thanks Pat just did that so hoping that will revive the little fellow. I know the pet store doesn't do a big
change in their waters on a daily basis.

its not usually a good idea to emulate how the local fish stores are keeping their discus

did u test ur water parameters? i tried quarantining 3 baby discus in a 10gal tank and it was way too small, they were very unhappy.
