Shop table my father in law installed when they had this house. We're possibly gonna try to install a 125g on it, but I'm not sure it'll hold. It's very sturdy, just not sure about 125g filled sturdy. Here's the photos I got.

It's 83" long with legs on the front left corner and center. The rest is nailed into the house and has 2x4s for support horizontally across and from the wall to the front. Based on looks alone, what do you think? Thinking going with the stock stand may be the safest route. Apologies for the mess. We're redoing this room!

I'm no expert but seeing as the water alone will weigh just over 1000 lbs I wouldn't trust it as is. It may however be able to hold the weight reliably with a little bit of work.

That won't work. It looks like the 2x4's are just butted & screwed without vertical posts under the ends. You can add lumber underneath to make it work though. Another problem is that the lengthwise 2x4's are not oriented like joists.

Kinda what I was thinking. I think it's best to just get the tank stand that is sold with it. Too much risk

I would not take a chance as it's structurally built wrong. If your kind of handy and have the proper tools, you can build one yourself. Most important is that all 4 tank corners need vertical supports which was first spotted not having with this stand. One thing to remember in addition to the heavy weight of a 125g...is every gallon of water added tacks on roughly 10lbs.

Agreed. If you are handy with an electrical gun then you can undo the current stand and make a new one out of the pieces. You will still need to buy some 2x4's for more structural support, but it can be done.

I wouldnt trust that... nothing is really holding the top... The 2x4s in the front the top is is laying on yes.. but those 2x4 supports in the middle dont have any support lol they are screwed intot the legs sideways with nothingto physicly hold them up..

And the back.... is screwed into the wall... you have no support legs in the back... You can make that work if you add supports to to the back though.

Thank goodness for our forum....:-)...now you will not have to hear that sound of glass, water, and most tragically your fish flipping around on the floor :-)
