Oke guys, i'm about to make my own fishfood but i have some questions
the ingredients are
beefheart
tilapia filets
shrimps
spirulina
spinach
egg yolks

now the questions

i also want to add garlic, but can i just blend in a clove of garlic ?
and i also want to add paprika, can i just blend it in ?
and what kind of vitamines can i use best ? if any at all ?


are there other things that i can add ?

- Yes, i add that much or more. smell really good 'cause i love garlic and want to it too :)

- I don't use it, other members do.

- I just use whatever on sale and has A-Z vitamins.


are there other things that i can add ?- I also use banana.

fyi.. Clove and Head of garlic.. are TWO!!! different things.. lol


also.. use as fresh ingredients as possible.

Yup, that's garlic. Mince the garlic and you will be fine. Personally, I would not use the tilapia. I'd much rather use cod. Also, use the banana and paprika. I didn't use eggs in my receipe and it holds together really well with just banana, shrimp and flakes.

This is the BH mix I make....

1 pound of Beef heart
1 pound shrimp
1 pound of Tilapia
3/4 pound of cooked spinach
250-400 grams of peas (100% organic baby food)
3 Tbsp of Spirulina powder
3 Tbsp paprika powder
3 gloves of garlic
2 egg yolks


I've seen someone post about using a banana in lieu of eggs on another thread. What are the benefits? Vitamins? Potassium?

And other people would only use salmon. Some say to use only fresh shrimp, not frozen. Good luck with that in Wisconsin. I use fresh red lettuce rather than spinach ever since I read some expert recommend it. Personally, I think as long as the main ingredient is beef heart most of the rest is just personal choice. I'm pretty sure I've never made two batches exactly alike.

Flake is the only ingredient I consistently use I didn't see in the OP's recipe.

Your receipe is fine. Garlic only works if it is fresh crushed at the time of feeding. Putting it in your food will make it smell better but will have no health improvement properties.

they like it VERY much
and it only cost like half of the food sold in de fish store's
so i'm a happy man ;)

That is always the satifying part. Plus, you know EXACTLY what it is your discus are eating.
