There aren't many sources available that list crosses and how they are achieved. In most cases the breeder that develops a new breed doesn't want us to know how it came about. For that reason I will begin these thread to help other breeder .

My question would be why are you crossing? It is better to pair them up in their strains and leave the experiments to the pro's.

The trouble is when you breed there you will get a wide range of types. F1's often look nice. It is when you go to F2's the outcome starts to get hard to predict.

Great thread to start, and help people see what potential outcomes may be created. The pro's with the best strains, started somewhere. It's not for everyone, but if no one tried, no new strains or pro's would be created.

For me crossing is fun as long as similar strain. You'll never know what you going to get, you might create something unique but for the most part I'm sure expert breeders already done these in the past. I would like to see some more wild crosses like heckels

For the record, I really like both sets of offspring int he original post. The second actually remind me a bit of my Watley's. In my opinion both strains look
better than the parent fish, and have particularly nice shape. There is enough consistency that you could probably do some line breeding to get something solid fairly quickly. But I say
a bit of diversity aint a bad thing either, especially if you're just doing it for fun, and especially if they look that good.
