I'm going to be setting up my 180 g soon and looking into everything. I have a 40 breeder with a refugium kit for it and wanted to know if that will be find or should I go with a 75g refugium?

Has anyone used Miracle Mud before? To me seems like the most important thing is to have a fast growing plant with good substrate to suck up all those nitrates, nitrites, etc.

The last question I had was what size return pump should I get for my tank. I understand I should be at 3 to 5 times my tank size but with the added height of 5ft to 6ft at the top. so would a eheim compact 5000 (1320gph) be good since that rate will drop a little do to the height?

I don't have the pump curve for the Eheim Compact 5000, but I would expect if you are pushing water up 5 feet you would get about half the flow rate, or 660 gph. The rated maximum head is 9.8 feet.

Im running a 55 gal DIY sump/refugium with miracle mud and flourite mixed for my 120
with a DC 10000 waveline pump. I love the variable speed DC pumps over any AC pump.
