List of ingredients use to start with-plankton, squid, salmon fillets, plankton, kelp, clams before getting to wheat germ etc- back about 3 years ago. Now it starts with dried fish solubles, wheat germ, etc.

I've recently started using Hikari Discus Bio-Gold and about 90% of my fish were eating it within a few days. It's a high protein sinking mini-pellet. They take it way better than flakes and it's probably more filling. It's a little expensive but worth a try for those who want a staple dry food in their discus diet.

These premium flakes like Cobalt Aquatics which I just purchased are generally decent food for Discus and meet all the nutritional requirements.

Here's the problem. A tremendous amount of shake and small particles that are too small for many medium to average Discus to eat and bother with that end up as floating pollution in the tank and the filter. The solution, carefully strain out the smaller stuff with a course net or a collander. Well in many cases you end up with about 20% waste that is only good for adding back to beef heart mix as a binder. An already expensive proposition that becomes more expensive again. I feed flake, but only as part of about five foods I feed to my fish. I generally buy the larger containers for $5 at my lfs. It's a generic general flake.
