Stress Bars

A few weeks ago I noticed that one of my Brilliants was no longer showing the stress bars that it always had,while I was doing a water change earlier, for some reason the whole tank freaked out.They were all darting around like crazy,while I was trying to figure out why they were so freaked and also after they had calmed downed,I noticed the stress bars were still absent.So I guess my question is, are stress bars really a sign of stress or as I would guess just a type of camouflage? Because this was probably the most stressed I've ever seen this particular discus and yet there were no stress bars...

I worry if the discus turns dark all over. That means there is something seriously wrong. No stress bars, no worries IMHO.

Thank God this is just a silly question,and thankfully all my discus are doing very well and all are eating like pigs and growing very well.All of mine are from Hans,what kind of discus do you have?

Where do you live in Canada? I was up in Gander Newfoundland in August,I really loved it what a totally unique part of Canada,cought lots of Cod while there,hopefully I'll get there again

Not a silly question. I stress when I see their strees bars, I'm less stressed when they don't show. No stress bars is ALWAYS good.
