Hey all, I'd like your opinion on something.

I have a pair that has started spawning in the community tank so I am setting up a breeding tank just for them. I have two tanks I could use but am curious what you all would think would be the better of the two
1 = 30 gal cube measuring roughly 20 long x 18 wide x 21 tall
2 = 40 gal (breeder) measuing 36 long x 18 wide x 17 tall

Space considerations favor the 30 gal cube but I don't want to base the decision solely on space considerations - they will both fit in the area I have in mind, jus that the cube fits better.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

PS. I also have a standard 55 gal available but am thinking that's a tad too big

I do most of my breeding in 20H's and some 29's so the 30 will be fine.

Both of your tanks will work out.Given the choice I would take 40 gal (breeder)

Nicholson says he's leaning toward using 75s these days, so I'd say you can use any of the 3 you mentioned. I assume he's pulling the parents and growing out the fry in the 75 they were spawned. I'd use whichever one the pair wants to spawn in. :)

decisions decisions :P

Not sure which Josie you're referring to but the one I know uses 31 gal cubes.

I also have a 45 gal hex that looks like it would give them plenty of room but I've never had good luck with Discus in Hex tanks so I probably won't go that route. The 40 breeder is probably the best bet but the cube fits really nicely into a spot I've got setup for it .. have to decide before the filter is cultured :Pl

thanks for all the feedback!

What we have learned is boxes full of water work best as a breeding tank. After that go with what fits where you want it to?
