reading API test kits

I have been checking my ammonia,nitrite, nitrate for my fishless cycle. After the 5 minute waiting period the ammonia reading was between 0 and .25ppm as best as can be read with these kits.
I didn't empty the test tube last night and this morning it was reading around 3-4 ppm. Is the 5 min. reading right or is the long term the right one?

As far as I know, it should be the 5-minute color that is accurate.
