question about driftwood in my tank

hi,,,,i found a bare stump in a very large clean lake in tenn. it is very water seasoned with no bark and no rot. very hard nice piece. however, I think it is red cedar. it has a very faint cedar smell. before I put it in my tank I want to know if red cedar would hurt my discus. I need advice. thanks

Soft wood is not a good idea due to terpenes/turpentine components.

You are correct that cedar contains natural oils and resins that I would not want in my tank.
