Built in Overflow

Would you recommend a built in overflow, canister filter or a HOB filter! Glad to be back home at Simply Discus!

I think most will say wet dry/overflow if only one because it provides the most surface area for beneficial bacteria, adds more to your overall water volume while keeping the water well oxygenated and is very efficient. I would say 2 or more of any two of the above is usually fine so long as the main filter can handle the bioload. Redundancy is a very good thing since any filter can fail, leaving the fish without oxygen.
