Hi guys .
I may be a little unfamiliar with electronics and devices so that's why I want to share your thoughts and experience on this .

I practice fish feeding with filters/power heads off .
So i need a device that can switch on automatically and on timer after 20-30 min. my filters and powerheads after fish are finished with feeding time.

1. What are this devices called ? I would like to find them on eBay
2. How are they installed or set ?

This is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-HB880R-15-Amp-Outdoor-Digital/dp/B00B0XIIGE/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1458823979&sr=8-15&keywords=intermatic+timer

Just follow the instructions to set daily times.

I think you are looking for a "time delay switch". Something like this: https://www.sparksdirect.co.uk/switches-and-sockets/time-delay-switches

Thanks for quick responses folks.
My idea is to switch off filters mannualy(by hand) prior feeding , and then they would turn on again by them selves after 20 min. via this device - timer, delay or whatever it is called.
Are the links you mention useful for that?

I got a notion that ruudviks link is for a device that does the opposite of what I need .- it shuts off after 20 min. delay instead of turning it on?

you need to wire it so it's in the normally on position, and turning the dial turns the circuit off for the desired length of time.

I was thinking of this as well. I remember these from when I used to go to the Laundry Mat where you used to have to turn on the lights with this kind of switch and if you wanted the lights on, you had to keep turning the dial

Rick , you are saying that I can wire this to work in an opposite manner right?
If i can wire it to be in a constant on position , then the timer button will represent the Off mode , right?

" SPDT For applications requiring 3-way switching (2 timers or timer and 3-way switch) or reverse action applications. Reverse action applications allow a load to be turned “OFF” for a limited time, after which the load will switch back “ON”. Three way applications are used for controlling a load from two different locations such as:"

We use the same Intermatic (spring-loaded) switch for our central system as well. The last thing I do before leaving for work in the morning is feed the fish. Using the switch wired opposite of the way it was designed allows me to shut off the pumps, feed the fish, then leave for work, knowing that the system will turn back on in 30 minutes. The same is true for feeding the fish at night before turning in for the night.

Thanks for the informative response Rick . I got it how it works now.
i think that i will be able to find this kind of SPDT , spring-loaded switch in my electronics shops.

This was my idea also, Somefins fishy . To be able to throw food on the run without having to wait for the fish to eat all their food before i switch on the filters again.
