What air pump would I need to drive two of these? http://www.amazon.com/XY-380-Aquarium-Biochemical-Sponge-Filter/dp/B0051XIN78?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&redirect=true&ref_=s9_simh_gw_g199_i3_r They'd be in a 40g breeder.

I have one Fusion http://www.kensfish.com/aquarium-supplies/air-pumps/fusion-700-air-pump.html

and I have a Tetra/Whisper http://www.kensfish.com/aquarium-supplies/air-pumps/whisper-100-air-pump.html

I think the Tetra is much better, produces a lot more air. Both pumps have dual outlets and I split each outlet with a gang valve to run 2 sponges....so each of the pumps run a total of four sponges. The tetra always runs four sponges regardless of pressure differences. For the Fusion if one of the tanks has an inch of less water(so less pressure) all the air seems to pump to that sponge so I'm constantly have to adjust the valve on the gang valve.

With each outlet running only one sponge this won't be an issue for you... unless you want to expand. Really even if you add another sponge to each tank it shouldn't be an issue since the water pressure will be the same in the same tank. You will only have issues if you use an air stone in one sponge and not the other.

The Fusion does have a knob to adjust the air output so you could 'dial it down'. Which you might want to do if you are just running one sponge from each outlet.

I'd still just get the Tetra and use a cheap inline valve to bleed off any excess air if you think it is too much. Easier to use less air and have the option to use more than to have too little air down the road when you want it.

Thank you. I will go with the whisper. I have a whisper 20 right now and it is quite. Only other air pump I have a 18W ecoPlus and it is too noisy.

I got a $10 one from walmart (Aqua brand) that has 2 outputs - runs two of these very nicely in my 75g.

by Active Air. enough for what you need and 2 extra outlets

Get an Alita AL-15A Air Pump This pump can operate up to 25 outlets (depending on the depth and the type of the outlet. Air stones require more air than a cube filter). So down the road you will not have to up grade.
