First high hatch rate after a couple of lows that end up being eaten. i got more than 60 but about a 3rd were eaten by the mama, took her out and leave the papa to take care of the fry. I have about 40++ fry left. So far so good.

On their 5 day of free swimming.

Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks, am so excited and cant wait to see them grow. I have 3 more pairs in my community tank that keeps on laying and having fry that ends up being eaten. I'm planning to breed them on rotation basis so I can get different strains.

I want to but I don't know where to get it. I ordered a 50 gms. bottle of Spectrum Small Fry Formula in Amazon and still waiting for it. I haven't seen them eat the tetra granules and FDBW i feed the papa just yet. I really feel sorry for the papa as he's taking it all from the frys.
he's been twitching a lot, considering this is his first high hatch rate after a couple of lows.

Just my opinion but for me I don't considered that as successful yet until they reach adulthood because within a year there's still a chance something could go wrong. I just lost 200+ 10 days old fry because the parents lost their interest of raising the fry and start killing them.

Thanks for the input warblad, the reason I titled it that way is because of the numerous previous spawning that they have with very low hatch rate which mama end up eating every time she feels like spawning again (I learned that in this forum). This being the pair first high hatch rate is the success I'm referring to. Success also in a sense if you know my journey in discus keeping stated in my other post. This is my 16 month journey in Discus keeping and the pair herein were the frys my kids gave me as a Christmas gift December of 2014 about 2" in size. I was able to grow them to their full potential thru the help of the gurus of the forum. This frys marks as my very first who knows nothing about Discus before I joined this forum. Don't you think this a success story enough? I took the mama out as she is the one who ate about a third of this spawn and she is the one in my avatar. Hopefully she will soon mature to really make it right. They're both still young anyway.

Agree! successful as far as raising them from 2" to adulthood and able to breed them. To be really successful is to complete the life cycle of Discus from eggs, to fry, to juvenile, to semi adult, adulthood, to become parents, and able to care for the young. I think that's one of best accomplishment.
