Your tank is too small, you are not doing enough water changes and your params are prob through the roof...

Was the gardener feeding them as you were away?

ya for sure. i gave detailed instructions. but i need help to stop this immediately. all the others looked fine, so its just the one. my dad wont let me get a bigger tank as i have a few and thats the biggest. hard to do water changes while doing olevels, and the equipment to measure parameters are not available here so i have no choice.but please does anybody know the treatment for dashing? is it fatal?

you need to do a 100% water change, your fish are dashing and rubbing bc the water is toxic and is itching their skin. The water was probably orangish from all the uneaten food in the water. do a huge water change and come back. do you have decorations in your tank?

100% water change per day and if they live you will be lucky. Your tank is too small, simple as that. If I were you I would save the trouble and bring the fish back to the lfs and get something else. It will be in your best interest.

never feed fish while away and not changing water - or else you get what you have going on now...

all around bad shape

your tank and your husbandry are not suitable for discus, like zach said trade those in and get some small fish that can handle... 10% a week isn't gonna cut it for any fish

he's still alive today. did 90 % water change, so as not to get rid of all the medicine. i cant return the fish, our country doesn't let you do that, plus i have had them for 3 years no problem. grew them out to about 3 inches each plus 2 in another tank from the same batch who are 4 inches and breeding. so cant exactly get rid of them. ya there are decorations. just live plants in pots.

also the tank is a meter by a foot & 1/2 by a foot, so isnt that big enough? and my problem is only one fish that is dashing. all the others are fine. also should i do another 100% water change later today?
