Is it true that female virgin reds are more red than males? Or is it the other way around?

That is true with all solid reds. The males have better shape (generally). The females always have better color.

Thanks Liz. I just got some 3" virgin reds from Kenny. It may be too soon to judge on color but I think I have 2 females a 1 male.

I had a possible pair that I sold... Red covers but essentially the same thing and I found this to be true. Although I didn't get them to breed so who knows for sure ...

But this is what I've heard

The females are the ones to get the best blue halo's.

Thanks Rick. That gives me something else to watch for as they mature.

Had three VRs. One very red but ended up male. All three were males so couldn't tell you on female but had two female RC's and the red VR male was just as red IMO. Not disagreeing with others but throwing it out there. I think RRs and RC's have a more evident difference in sexes. At least from Forrest strains.
