Was thinking on getting a garden hose( see through green plastic one), cheap as dirt and attach it to the kitchen faucet for water changes. Refill the tank using a power nozzle to disperse and eliminate micro bubbles. I think this would work. Anyone doing this ?

I would spend an extra few dollars for a hose that is used for drinking water. Why take the chance of introducing some nasty things into your tank with a cheapo hose? aren't the discus worth a few extra bucks? and for the spray nozzle, just use a prefilter sponge at the end of the hose. can't get simpler than that

Thanks but sponge at the end of the hose does ok but not to my liking. I want a fast forceful flow of water to eliminate them. Thanks for the link. I figure see through plastic would be safe. Nothing but plastic.

I have been using the python stuffed with wadding of all kinds and stand up to let it flow like a waterfall. I don't really want to be at that. Hard on the back. It's the best for the bubbles so far, but there has to be an easier way.

There is a whole thread and discussion recently about hoses that you can look for, I believe Liz started it... People have different opinions...

I honestly never even thought twice about the hose until recently, I have been using the same black rubber like hose for a while... moving forward I would prob invest the few $ and get a food grade...

You can also tie a 200 micron filter sock over the hose.

Hoses today are coated with a lot more stuff like mold inhibitors and other nasty stuff.

I like this one. No lead and no antimicrobial properties.98340

Personally I would just get the 50 feet potable hose used for RVs. Totally no worries or guessing with a hose like this and you can get them at Home Depot or Lowes.

it will not help with the micro bubbles... but the micro bubbles for me only come from the ice cold water going into the water heater never from the cold side. This time of year I have no need for the hot water side and since the water going into the water heater is way warmer those pesky bubbles are not present this time of year.

Won't work? Have you tried this? I'm really looking for complete elimination of these pesky bubbles. Aged water is a no go. Maybe I'm being too finicky about it..Lol

yep. When I use hot water in the winter the water goes in my 5gal bucket clear and then the water gets extremely cloudy about 45 seconds later with the bubbles then in a minute is it then all clear.

this hose is not Lead Free right there in the details "Lead Free" no

Either way just let it run for a minute if you let water sit in it. I have been using regular hoses for years with no ill effects. I just let them run until the cold water comes out. mine sit outside all day in the sun with whatever water is still in them from the last use.

Here is an older thread where someone had some success using a sprayer. Post #31

Maybe it was all of that garden hose water you consumed as a child Bill?

I think the garden hoses in the 60's were made out of mercury and asbestos.
